God's love is an amazing source of strength and motivation. When we are able to realize the severity of our transgressions and repent wholeheartedly, we receive a wondrous act of mercy: forgiveness from the Everlasting Father and strengthening through the Holy Spirit. This love has motivated Christians for ages to serve God with their whole heart.

The apostle Peter underwent this process: he denied Jesus three times, felt an overwhelming guilt, and wept bitterly in repentance. But he was strengthened upon receiving the Holy Spirit, and spent the rest of his life spreading the good news to the point of dying upside down on a cross. This great transformation started with a simple cry out to the Lord: "Please help, I have no strength."

As children of God washed in Jesus' blood, we often find ourselves struggling with sin, perhaps to the point where we are hypocritical Christians—not believers but "make-believers." Yet a turning point can happen in our lives—we just need to realize our failing situation, and cry out to God, "My foot is slipping!"

By humbling ourselves as God's children and truly seeking His help from the depth of our hearts, God's reassuring love is bound to come. We must first admit that by ourselves, as humans, we have no power against sin; therefore, we must urgently seek God's strength through prayer with supplication. "A broken and a contrite heart," wrote the psalmist, "These O God, You will not despise" (Ps 51:17).

If we repent sincerely and "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 Jn 1:9). Once free from the hook of sin, we can see the amazing love of God in retrospect and softly whisper, "Your love, O Lord, supported me."
